The 550kV dry-type wall bushing of Hewei Power operates successfully and stably in the climate test chamber of China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI)

Recently, the 550kV dry-type wall bushing of Hewei Power has been installed in the climate test chamber of China Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI). Under the complex environmental conditions inside the chamber, the bushing operated steadily with all parameters normal. No abnormal discharge or insulation faults occurred throughout the test.

 

Wall bushings are core insulating components that enable electrical penetration through substation walls. Substations are constantly exposed to harsh operating conditions such as drastic temperature fluctuations, high humidity with condensation, and coastal salt fog. These conditions may easily cause insulation failure and further lead to power grid malfunctions. Therefore, the reliable operation of high-voltage wall bushings is critical to the stability of power transmission and transformation projects.

 

Different from traditional oil-immersed wall bushings, Hewei dry-type composite wall bushings adopt resin-impregnated fiber insulation structure. With no insulating oil or gas-filled medium inside, they eliminate inherent defects of conventional products and adapt to diverse complex power grid operating scenarios.

 

Free of combustible media, the bushings fundamentally eliminate risks of oil leakage, fire and explosion, making them ideal for indoor urban substations and high-risk coastal substations.

 

The resin-impregnated fiber technology ensures a compact integrated structure. Its insulation performance remains stable even after long-term service.

 

Regular inspections, oil refills and seal replacement are unnecessary, which greatly cuts down power grid operation and maintenance expenses.
